State Bank of India (SBI) has come up with an essential information for those who have an account. You can no longer shop online with your debit card. SBI is eliminating this facility from account holders’ debit cards. Find out why SBI is taking this step
SBI debit cards will not work on e-commerce sites
SBI has informed the account holders that the facility is being withdrawn from customers who have never used a debit card for e-commerce (online shopping). Through its official website, the bank said that customers who have availed the facility from their debit cards will be notified via SMS. Other features like debit card of these SBI account holders such as ATM withdrawal or payment service through card swipe will continue as before.
This way you can restart the online shopping service
If the bank accidentally terminates this facility from your debit card, it can be restarted. All you have to do is send an SMS from your registered mobile phone. In mobile, type ‘swon ecom 0000’ (you have to write the last four digits of your debit card instead of the last four digits) and you have to send this message to 09223966666. After receiving the message, the online shopping service will be resumed in your card. You can also go to the bank’s website onlinesbi.Com for that.
Let it be known that online shopping fraud is on the rise these days. The SBI has decided that e-commerce services have been removed from debit cards to protect consumers from such scams. The customer can also contact his nearest branch to start or discontinue any of his services.
