The 5-inch-long worm had been eating the young man’s brain for 17 years, thus confronting the whole incident
A 23-year-old man from China has a 5-inch big worm in his brain that has been there for 17 years. From the age of 6, his hands and feet became numb. He went to the doctor when the sensation in half of his body was over. The doctor said that he had contracted an infection by eating frogs or snakes like half raw and cooked meat. He underwent surgery at a hospital in China’s Jiangsu province last Tuesday to remove a tapeworm from his brain.
Will affect the brain
As a child, Chen felt that he had the same genetic problems as his parents, but after a CT scan, doctors found a worm in his brain. The disease is called sparganosi mansoni which is a rare parasitic disease. It is unknown at this time what he will do after leaving the post.
Doctors say that the infection may have been caused by drinking water or eating less cooked meat. Doctors said that this worm penetrates the brain and affects its function. Chen’s condition is improving after the surgery.
One case came up in April
The worm was 5 inches. According to Chinese media, this is the first time that this will be the first case of surviving with a worm for 17 years after showing symptoms at the age of six. Earlier in April, a 23-year-old girl had a 6-inch worm in her brain.
